At the June 4 City Council meeting, Abby Johnson, Intergovernmental Coordinator for Government Affairs with the St. Johns River Water Management District, presented a 'check' to the City in the amount of $674,629 in grant funding. These funds are part of their local agency cost-share grant program which supports local projects. The City submitted the application to assist with the cost of constructing a new sewer system for the Sylvan Drive neighborhood and taking these homes off their old individual septic systems. This project will help reduce pollutants entering into the nearby County drainage system that empties into the Indian River Lagoon at Crane Creek. The City's construction of the improvements is expected to begin this fall.
