Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement Department strives to see that the City of West Melbourne is well maintained for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of our City. The inspectors make every attempt to see that the City's Code of Ordinances are complied with. Their goal is to assist the citizens and businesses within the City so together we continue to be ranked as a great place to live, raise a family and do business.

Property Maintenance Complaint Form
There are dozens of violations that Code Enforcement deals with each and every day. Below are just a few of the most common violations.
Yard Maintenance
Owners of improved real property must not permit tall grass and weeds to exceed a height of more than 12 inches. Property owners must keep their property free from any trash and debris, rubbish, junk, litter or fallen trees.
Junk or Inoperative Vehicles
It is unlawful to keep, store, cause or allow to be kept or stored on any property within the City, any dismantled, party dismantled, inoperative, or discarded personal property such as machinery, motor, or other:
- Boats
- Junk
- Scrap metal
- Trailers
- Vehicles
Parking Commercial Vehicles in Residential Areas
Unless rendering services to a residential location, the parking of any commercial vehicle in a residential area is prohibited. A commercial vehicle is defined as a vehicle having more than four wheels, more than two axles, over eight feet in height or more than 24 feet in length.
Fence & Wall Maintenance
All fences shall be maintained in their original upright condition. Fences or walls designed for painting shall be maintained in their original condition. Missing or damaged boards, ironwork, wire fabric or posts must be replaced in a timely manner.
