Benefits to Annexation
Annexation is a process outlined in Florida Statutes whereby residents and businesses located outside City limits decide to join and become part of the City. A property must be adjacent to the city limits in order to annex into the City.
The City of West Melbourne provides enhanced, more responsive, and personalized services to your business and residence than just simply being a part of a large unincorporated area. These services include resources for a higher level of public safety, and infrastructure improvement programs that are all designed to fit the diverse needs of the community. All of these reasons translate into increased property values and most property owners who annex only experience a very slight increase in taxes, sometimes approximately $50 dollars a year. This is possible because the City of West Melbourne has one of the lowest tax rates in Brevard County.
