Drug-Free Workplace Policy

The City of West Melbourne has a Drug-Free Workplace Program Policy to make sure that City employees abuse no drugs or alcohol. The policy was approved on October 16, 2001 and is established in accordance with the following statutory authority:

  • Florida Drug-Free Workplace Program (F.S. 440.102, et seq)
  • Florida Drug-Free Workplace Act (F.S. 112.0455)
  • U.S. Department of Transportation Regulations governing drivers of commercial vehicles (Rule 49 CFR, Parts 29, 40, 653, and 654)

The City of West Melbourne screens all newly hired employees for drugs and alcohol and withholds offers of hire if abuse is detected. View the Drug-Free Workplace Policy (PDF).
