Planning

The Planning and Economic Development Department is responsible for comprehensive long term planning and current planning. Comprehensive planning involves broad issues which set the guidelines for the City's future growth and development. 

Functions included in this category are future land use planning, transportation planning, parks and recreation, planning for certain capital improvements and coordination with local, county, regional and state government entities.

Current Planning

Current planning includes such activities as rezoning, variances, special exceptions, annexations, zoning regulations, land development regulations, site plan and subdivision processing and review and the creation and revision of planning and zoning related ordinances. The Planning Director is designated to represent the City on various boards, committees and work groups throughout the county and state.

Initiatives & Regulations

Economic development initiatives and administration are managed by the Planning Department.
