Public Notice - Sign Code and Small Scale Amendment

Map Amendment

NOTICE is hereby given that the City of West Melbourne, Brevard County, Florida, has called for Public Hearing(s) to be held as follows:

West Melbourne Planning and Zoning Board, December 8, 2020, 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard in the City Council Chambers, 2285 Minton Road West Melbourne, Florida. This meeting may include the attendance of one (1) or more members of the West Melbourne City Council who may or may not participate in the Board discussions held at this public meeting. 

West Melbourne City Council, December 15, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard in the Council Chamber located at 2285 Minton Road, West Melbourne, Florida.  The City Council will take public comment, the Planning and Zoning Board’s recommendation and consider the following:

A proposed code amendment to Chapter 72, Signs, to allow and provide regulations for an entrance feature sign on-site in the C-1 (Low Density Commercial District).   

AND3685 Minton Road SSA

A request for small scale comprehensive plan amendment, (SSA) to change the land use on property located at 3685 Minton Road from COM (Commercial) to MD-RES (Medium Density Residential) and to consider rezoning from C-1 (Low Density Commercial District) to R-2 (One-, Two- and Multi-Family Dwelling), on property as indicated on the aerial and more particularly described as follows: 

Lot 9 and the West ½ of Lot 10, Florida Indian River Land Company Subdivision, as recorded in Plat Book 1, Page 164, Public Records of Brevard County, Florida, lying South of Interstate 95 and less Minton Road right of way and limited access right of way for Interstate 95. Containing 5.37 acres, more or less, and subject to easements and rights of way of record. 

The Planning and Zoning Board will take public comment, consider the items, and make a recommendation to the City Council. 

The proposed code amendment is available for public inspection at City Hall, 2240 Minton Road, West Melbourne, Florida. All persons wishing to be heard should appear in person at these hearings or send written comments to the City Clerk.  All persons and parties are hereby advised that if they should decide to appeal any decision made by the City with respect to any matter considered at the public meeting or hearing described in this notice, they will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose, said person or party may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based (Chapter 286, Florida Statutes).  In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), anyone who needs a special accommodation for this meeting should contact the City Clerk at (321) 837-7774 at least 48 hours in advance of this meeting. The public hearing may be continued to a time and date certain by announcement at this scheduled hearing without any further published notice.
