The trend is not good. Since last week’s operational update, the number of Brevard County COVID-19 cases has increased substantially. From the first recorded Brevard County case on March 16, 2020, through a week ago last Tuesday on June 9, 2020, a total of 86 days, Brevard County had a total of 484 reported cases. This is an average of 5.62 positive cases per day. In the one week since, there have been 163 reported Brevard County cases, an average of 23.29 positive cases per day. In addition, the percent of positive tests is increasing.
During Tuesday evening’s City Council meeting, the City Council approved an agreement for West Melbourne to be able to access COVID-19 expense reimbursement funds the County has received through the Federal CARES Act. Direct City expenses from March 1 through December 30 for COVID-19 response are eligible for reimbursement under the approved agreement. The Finance Department is working on a claim for already incurred expenses going back to March 1 as well as a forecast estimate going forward through December 30 that the County has requested of all the cities.

A repair part for the splash pad in West Melbourne Community Park is expected to ship from Canada on Friday. After the repair is made next week sometime, the splash pad will re-open.
